Abstract
In a first examination, the "story of the Fiero" could be considered, basically, as a kind of fragment of an "adventure novel"; Chapter IV destined to tell "the past" of the bandit and Chapter XVIII dedicated to presenting the mystery surrounding the death of El Fiero. These are the only two chapters of the novel dedicated exclusively to Fiero Vásquez and his human adventure; These are chapters that, by taking our attention away from the main plot event, have a clear interpolative value that contributes to creating suspense, one of the two axes or "structuring principles" that, for me, the novel has. To correctly understand the function and meaning of the Fiero in the novel, an analysis of the long chapter IV is necessary on the one hand; on the other, it is essential to trace throughout the novel the impact or influence of the bandit, from that chapter to the one that tells the discovery of "The head of Fiero Vásquez" (XVIII) and the mystery surrounding the death of the bandit .Downloads
