Abstract

The concept of appellations of origin is contemplated within the Industrial Property Law D.L. No. 823, Article 219, which states: "An appellation of origin is defined as one that uses the name of a region or geographical place in the country to designate a product originating therein, the quality or characteristics of which are due exclusively or essentially to natural and human factors".
