Stylistic resources in Aztec poetry

Keywords: Poetry, Aztec poetry

Abstract

The Aztec people developed a culture of enormous, almost irreconcilable contradictions. On the one hand, they made human sacrifices so bloody that we can compare them with the most primitive peoples; on the other hand, they knew how to handle and perfect at least two calendars (one solar and one ritual), so complex that, in this respect, not even the greatest eastern and European cultures could match them.
