Abstract
We can be said -without fear of error- that the Art Critic was a "bourgeois" creation: Diderot, defender of the lachrymose Greuze, was a member of the pre-revolutionary bourgeoisie; Baudelaire, who urged the bourgeoisie to devote their time to the forging of sensibility, just as they devoted so much time to the flourishing of their businesses, also belonged to a sector of the bourgeoisie, with a special interest in breaking into a still incipient market.Downloads
