Abstract

The book pays tribute to Gustavo Solís Fonseca for his academic and human contributions to the study of the languages of Peru. The work brings together testimonials, academic studies, and poems by various authors who engage with his legacy. The biographical section offers an intimate look at his intellectual and personal life. Meanwhile, the academic sections bring together research that projects his legacy in various fields. On the one hand, studies on biocultural diversity emphasize that the defense of languages is inextricably linked to the protection of Amazonian territories. Meanwhile, research in Quechua linguistics highlights the vitality and historical variation of this linguistic family. In turn, Hispanic linguistics examines verbal modality from a functional and discursive approach. Finally, the poems dedicated to the teacher express gratitude and symbolic continuity of his teachings. Taken together, the book reaffirms that Gustavo Solís' legacy lives on in the way his teachings continue to give meaning to the relationship between language, culture, and territory.
