The structure of events in "Hungry Dogs"

The following pages attempt to clarify the structure of the "Hungry Dogs" event. Such an analysis does not allow us to make any judgement on the entire work of Ciro Alegria, insofar as we have only approached one aspect of it. However, it seems accurate and fair to state, as a hypothesis, that with Alegría's three great novels he culminates, with singular brilliance, the first valuable stage of the irregular process of the Peruvian novel. The first of these is the "regeneration of literary history," which, as Wehrli wants, will be the next task of the science of literature. We think that such "regeneration" will be the product of an imponderable effort of synthesis, otherwise only possible on a scaffolding of humbly cut monographs.Downloads
